apart from a steadfast belief in goodness & guardian angels i'm not religious.. so the idea of an advent calender kind of seemed pointless to me yet the idea of christmas with it's giving & loved up vibe i have always believed in.
SO as wilf is old enough to know christmas is coming but not quite old enough to understand how far it is away, i decided to get crafty and make a christmas countdown calender..
this was the idea
cover empty matchboxes in craft paper
scribble or doodle on the outside
then double sided tape them to the wall
ready to be slid across each morning to reveal a secret treat

guilty. it's a half month christmas countdown
randomness can be my middle name
no reason on the pattern by which they are stuck other than how i felt at the time
it was an hour of craftiness sunday evening
matchboxes 89¢ for a pack of 10
matches were saved as stove starters (stil on gas here)
craft paper $2 at the $2 shop for an entire roll - christmas wrapping paper ✓
the idea for using matchboxes came off the internet a few moons ago.. whoever you are thank-you i didn't take note
the great thing about it though is you can make your calender reflect you.
mine mmmm i guess you could say kind of organic looking.. yes?
