100 yr OLD 'NEW' BED

some time ago i spied very old timber laying around in our back shed. since that day i have been visualising this most ancient yet so beautiful timber as wilf's bed.
after much persuasion and a clear idea of design i succeeded in persuading wilf's father (a very handy soul) to make said bed.
it's done now and i have bed envy of my own son's bed.
here are some shots i took. please excuse the probable too many photos.. but really it is love!

the side panel reminds me of the legs from an old church pew

3 wooden crates i salvaged on a trip to Kyneton
luck? oh yes!
these are perfect for stashing linen, clothes etc

little bit o' wallpaper keeps the dust at bay
the bottom of these boxes have been sanded and vacuumed but stil..

the end piece of wilf's bed has come up smashing

yellow wooden mini crate is the end carriage of a gigantic wooden train we bought for wilf's first b'day. found at elwood market at my fave gentleman's stall.  it now houses underwear, socks & bathers.
the third crate is filled to the brim with puzzles, board games and boxes of meccano.. it simply couldn't fit under the bed or into my photos!

so next time you spot some old wood, have a little day-dream -perhaps anything is possible

great weekend to all x
